Regarding this greeting, SK Innovation is based on the financial story (a goal to increase overall value based on the growth strategy and future vision of each SK company for customers, investors, and markets). Focusing on the battery business and materials business, which are key future businesses. While accelerating growth, the key is to complete environmental, social, and governance (ESG) management.

For the company-wide Green Balance 2030 strategy, the current Institute for Technology Innovation will be expanded and reorganized to the ‘Environmental Science and Technology Institute’. The next-generation battery research center and environmental technology research center were newly established under the subsidiary. The chemical research center was renamed as an eco-friendly product solution center, focusing on securing technological competitiveness with respect to the environment. In addition, the battery research center was expanded and reorganized into the battery research institute.

SK Energy, a subsidiary of the petroleum business, introduced the CIC (Company in Company) system to discover new businesses in the direction of sustainable development and eco-friendliness within existing industries.

“It was based on a financial story centered on ESG management that SK Innovation must achieve,” said Joon Kim, general president of SK Innovation. “In 2021, we will complete Green Balance 2030 by overcoming the current crisis and pushing forward with eco-friendly new growth projects. It will be an important year.”
