In April 2020, China produced about 73,000 new energy vehicles, a year-on-year decrease of 31% and a month-on-month increase of 41%; the installed capacity of power batteries was about 3.60 GWh, a year-on-year decrease of 33%, and a 30% increase from the previous month.
The industry gradually resumed its normal operations. Foreign car companies took the lead in production. In April, the Tesla plant in Shanghai produced 11,211 vehicles, accounting for 15.36% of the total new energy vehicle production share, which was 1.23 percentage points higher than BYD’s production share, ranking first among the new energy vehicle production among various automakers.
The output of new energy special-purpose vehicles is growing. Affected by the epidemic, the output of new energy passenger cars and passenger cars both declined significantly from January to April compared with the same period of last year, while the growth rate of new energy special vehicle production maintained a large year-on-year growth rate.
